Member Spotlight: Kari Hardy
What’s new on the SnoWorks blog? Starting today we will be doing a monthly member spotlight. This is a great way to learn more about the SnoWorks community and our marvelous members.
This month the spotlight on one of our original members, Kari Hardy. Take a few minutes to get to know her below.
What do you do?
I am a fundraising consultant for politicians. I help elected officials and hopefuls raise the money they need to run for office and get elected. I’ve been in the business for 6 years, and started my own company 3 years ago. Since becoming my own boss I’ve raised 10 million dollars and counting.
That’s my day job though. My true passion is baking. I am a cottage food baker, which means I’m licensed to bake out of my home kitchen. I specialize in cake, and during quarantine I’ve been selling cake by the slice on Friday nights in front of SnoWorks. I hope to open a cake shop/restaurant here in Snohomish one day.
Why did you choose SnoWorks?
I used to rent a small office space in town. I sat in a folding chair at a desk from a thrift store, had a microwave on a small end table, and the bathrooms were disgusting. I didn’t enjoy going to or being in my office. SnoWorks is a beautiful space that I look forward to going to each day. It’s got great amenities and even better people.
How can the SnoWorks community/members help you in your business?
I enjoy bringing in baked goods to the office regularly and sharing them with you. Please always feel free to enjoy what I bring in. My favorite part of baking is sharing it with others. I post my pop-up information and custom orders on Instagram and I genuinely enjoy connecting that way and growing my following. So if you use IG - go check out my profile and follow along @karihardy and then tell others about me.
Favorite spot at SnoWorks?
My go to seat is at the island, near the fridge. ️ I also enjoy sitting in the comfy chairs up front and soaking up the sun.
Favorite work-time snack?
Something crunchy. Nuts, popcorn, chips. Oh wait - I probably should have said cake.
Fun fact about you?
I’ve never had a brain freeze. In college, I used to get challenged to chug 7-11 slurpees as fast as I could. I got pretty good at it, and it never resulted in a brain freeze.
Anything else we should know about you?
I love learning and growing. I’m always pushing myself farther and developing my talents. In addition to being a successful fundraiser and baker, I sew clothing (hardest thing I’ve done was a custom wedding dress), I am an avid swimmer (competitive from middle school through college), and in college, I interned for the President at the White House. But most importantly I married my soulmate. No one is more perfect for me. We are celebrating 10 blissful years this August and we have 2 wonderful kids.
We are glad to have Kari as a part of our community here!
Make sure to follow Kari on Instagram and tell her the most surprising thing you learned about her the next time you see her around the office.
